    Health

Being hydrated is extremely important for your pet's overall health. Hydration allows all of the systems in the body to work at their best capacity. Water helps move other nutrients into and out of cells, as well as removes waste through urination and bowel movements. Though it might seem simple, there are some common mistakes you might be making in regards to keeping your pet hydrated. We want to help you fix them!

1.Clean Bowls

Some people assume leaving a bowl of water out a few days for your dog is okay, but in reality they need to be cleaned daily. Bacteria easily forms on the rim and side of the bowls, infecting the water. Make sure to scrub the bowl with a little bit of dish soap and provide fresh water daily. Don't forget to add your Fresh Dental to the bowl daily.

2. NO Toilet Water

You might think it is okay for your pup to drink toilet water but it is actually very dangerous. The toilet contains many deadly bacteria and chemicals from cleaning supplies, so please keep the lid down!

3. Keep it Full

Make sure your dog's water bowl is always full, allowing them to drink however much they want. Keep checking throughout the day to track how much water your dog is consuming, as excessive thirst could be a sign of illnesses such as a urinary tract infection.

4. Buy the Proper Size

One might assume any bowl is okay for a dog but that is not the case. A properly sized bowl is essential in making sure your dog can reach the water. Tall and narrow bowls are good for dogs with floppy ears such as Bassets, because it helps keep their ears out of the water, preventing ear infections. Small dogs need a short bowl of water to reach. Take your individual dog into consideration when purchasing a bowl because if your pup doesn't like it, they might avoid drinking, leading to dehydration.

5. Take Water On The Go

If you are going to the park with your pup or on a long road trip, make sure you have water with you. Purchase a collapsible bowl to make it easier for your pet to drink. When dogs run and play, their mouths dry out through sweat and panting so assure your dog is staying hydrated while having fun.
